A skateboard backpack isn’t just a backpack with a cool logo. Skateboarders typically need a way of storing their beads, tools and standard everyday devices and supplies, without having to constantly be on edge about their belongings getting damaged when tricks don’t go as planned.
A skateboard backpack must also be able to hold your board when you’re on foot.
A backpack suitable for skateboarders therefore needs to be highly durable and wear and tear resistant. It should be functional, practical and comfortable.
This means that the pack shouldn’t shift around too much when you’re on the move, instead sitting comfortably in the optimum position.
The ideal skateboard backpack is therefore one which stays in place comfortably and is made from high quality materials to protect your luggage in case of a tumble.
Backpacks which are stylish and affordable definitely get bonus points, assuming they tick all of the other boxes first.
Ronyes Skateboard Backpack
At the top of the list is the Ronyes Skateboard Backpack which has considered just about everything we could possibly think of when designing this fantastic product.
The pack is not just water resistant but waterproof, which means it will keep your belongings dry even on extra rainy days. On the inside, you’ll find multiple pockets, including a thick padded iPad sleeve and a padded laptop pocket. There’s also an external USB with a built-in charging cable so you can charge your devices on the go.
In terms of comfort, the contoured shoulder straps and back panel are made of breathable mesh material to keep your back cool and minimize impact.
There’s an adjustable sternum strap and waist strap so you can secure the backpack in place and it should stay there. In addition to adjustable straps to hold your board, there’s a hidden net for basketballs or any other suitably sized sports equipment.
The product comes in a simple black design which is attractive to all genders. It retails at a highly affordable price so in terms of value for money, practicality, comfort and nifty features, the Ronyes comes out on top.

There’s no insulated cooler pocket but there’s still a sleeve for your iPad and a goggle pocket too. If you are after something a little more travel orientated, you might prefer the Dakine Mission but I personally prefer the Duel 26L pack.

The main positive in comparison to some of the other listings is that it has the bonus of being stylish and coming from a trendy brand. This is what you are paying for though instead of extra function and handy features.

VANS Authentic III Skate Backpack
Vans is a trusted brand when it comes to reliability and durability. The straps are contoured and the back panel is mesh so it does the trick when it comes to comfort.
The product doesn’t boast any hidden pockets or organized compartments, but you can fit a lot in there and your board can obviously be stored at the front using the adjustable skate straps.
What’s more, the product looks great too and comes in attractive colors.
Srotek Skateboard Laptop Backpack
This backpack from Strotek is great if you want a product which doubles up as a school bag. There are pockets for all your devices and a padded sleeve for your laptop.
The backside is extra padded to protect your belongings and make carrying them more comfortable. Equally importantly, the back panel utilizes multi-panel ventilation to keep your back cool when you’re carrying your luggage.
There’s also a USB charging port so you can charge your phone up on the go. Overall, this is a pretty impressive product and you can store your board quite easily on the front.
The only reason we haven’t ranked the product higher is because it is more of a business/school backpack which can hold a skateboard than a backpack designed especially for skaters.
Penny Slater Pouch Backpack
We’ve included the Penny backpack even though it’s main selling point is the fact it looks awesome.
The product is pretty small compared to the other products on this list but if you travel light when skating, this won’t be a problem. There are still side pockets for your water bottle and a padded sleeve for an iPad.

Nike SB Courthouse Backpack
This tear resistant skate backpack is great for lovers of the Nike brand. It’s a great size and isn’t too heavy or bulky, despite being designed to survive everyday wear and tear.
There’s no sternum strap and there aren’t any outer pockets, so in terms of functionality, it ranks lower on the list.
For style and serving its basic purpose though, it’s a great choice for skateboarders.
